The Secrets, Lives and Violins of the Great Cremonese Makers 1505 – 1744 was a conference at the National Music Museum in South Dakota to celebrate five hundred years since the presumed birthdate of Andrea Amati, the father of Cremonese violin making. I was delighted to be invited by the museum to give a lecture on the enduring market for Cremonese instruments outside of Italy in the eighteenth century.
